The Board of Directors recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive negotiating partner of all international language instructors who employ the Board of Directors at its Extended School Day in the City of Toronto. The Elementary Level International Languages Program, implemented by the Catholic District School Board of Toronto (TCDSB), provides children with a valuable opportunity to learn another language and culture. When the Ministry of Education introduced Ontario`s Heritage Languages program in July 1977, the TCDSB already had considerable experience in this area. Already in 1973, the Board of Directors, in collaboration with several local organizations, set up Heritage Languages courses for about 5,700 children in 14 schools. . The 2% adjustment of the wage network for all ETT members, guaranteed by the ETFO agreement (MOU), came into force on 1 September 2014. The international languages program includes Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Chinese and Ukrainian. The IL program is offered on the basis of Extended Day in more than 45 schools.
